Connect A Bank Account

Connecting a Bank Account via Plaid feature enables users to securely link their bank accounts and credit cards to the sBizzl. Once connected, account transactions can be automatically synchronized and eliminate the need for manual data entry.
How it works:

Step 1: Initiate Connection

  • This process allows users to define the account’s basic information like nickname and specify the starting date for transaction synchronization before proceeding to the secure Plaid connection process. Click on the “Connect A Bank Account” button, it will open dialog to enter nickname and select date as shown.
  • Nickname: It is the connection nickname. User-defined name used to identify the connected bank account easily within the system. It helps users distinguish between multiple accounts, especially when several accounts belong to the same financial institution.
  • From Date: It is the starting date from which the system should retrieve transactions. For example: if the user selects 01/01/2026 as the from date and today’s date is 08/08/2026, the system will request transactions for that specific period. In short, this allows users to control how much historical transactions data is initially imported. Users can select a date up to 2 years prior to the current date. For example: if the current date is 08/08/2026, then the earliest selectable date can be 08/08/2024.
  • Next Button: After clicking Next, it launches the secure Plaid connection flow.
  • A window will appear to continue further shown below. Here, you can continue with/without a mobile number.
Step 2: Select bank/institution.
  • Select your bank/institution from the ones shown. If your bank isn't one of the options, enter the bank's name or URL in the search bar.
Step 3: Sign In process
  • A new page will prompt you to sign into your account. Click Continue.
Log in to your bank with your username and password (Authenticates with the financial institution). Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection process.
  • After logging in successfully, you will need to pick your accounts and continue.
  • After the Plaid connection  is successfully established, it returns to the system and displays the account summary which is connected to the system via along with its available balance.
  • And it directly displays in the bank/credit card list with connected accounts.
  • The imported transactions are added to the Bank Transactions list and are initially available for review and reconciliation.

Existing Bank/Institution Detection:

  • When a user attempts to connect a bank or financial institution that is already configured in the system, the system automatically checks for existing connections and informs the user before creating a new connection. This prevents duplicate bank connections and gives the user the option to reuse an existing connection.
    • If existing connections are found, the system displays a dialog with a message shown below.

    • When expanded, the system displays all accounts associated with that connection. Refer below.

 USE THIS CONNECTION:

The USE THIS CONNECTION action allows the user to reuse an existing financial institution connection instead of creating another connection. However, the user must still go through the Plaid connection flow and select the accounts that should be connected.

Process:
  • The system starts the Plaid connection process and authenticates if required.
  • Plaid displays the accounts available through the connection.
  • The user selects the accounts they want to connect.
  • The system compares the newly selected accounts with the existing accounts connected to the user.
  • An Account Summary dialog is displayed showing the resulting account configuration.
  • Once confirmed, the system adds/removes accounts according to the user’s latest selection.
Account Selection Scenarios:
  • Case 1: Select new account with already connected accounts.
    • Suppose the user already has an existing account: Plaid Checking, Plaid Saving, Plaid Cash Management and Plaid Business Credit Card.
    • During the Plaid process, the user selects all existing connected accounts and adds a new account (Plaid Credit Card). Refer below.
    • Here, the Account Summary dialog displays new connected accounts. But we have also selected already existing accounts, so it remains connected and a newly added account is displayed in the account summary modal. And both the accounts remain available for synchronization.
    • Check Wells Fargo account in the bank/credit card list as shown below.
  • Case 2: Select new account and select any/no existing account.
    • Suppose the user currently has existing accounts (Plaid Credit Card,, Plaid Business Credit Card, Plaid Cash Management, Plaid Saving and Plaid Checking).

    • During the Plaid process, the user selects two from existing accounts (Plaid Saving and Plaid Checking) and also two new accounts (Plaid Money Market and Plaid HSA). Now, the ones which are previously connected are not selected. So the system interprets this as the user’s updated account selection.

    • Here, the Account Summary dialog displays new connected accounts with removed accounts. But we have also selected already existing accounts, so it remains connected while not selecting some existing accounts and a newly added account is displayed in the account summary modal. So both the accounts (Selected existing accounts: Plaid Saving and Plaid Checking) (Newly selected accounts: Plaid HSA and Plaid Money Market) remain available for synchronization.
  • You can see in the below screen all the updated selected accounts for Wells Fargo.
  • Note: Removed accounts that were previously connected but are no longer selected by the user. All removed accounts are displayed in blur and its future automatic synchronization is stopped, but its historical transactions are preserved.

CONTINUE WITH NEW CONNECTION:

  • The user goes through the normal plaid connection process (Enter nick name and select from date to load transactions, Select financial institution and the accounts for connecting) and if found any existing connections, then the system will display the shown modal given below.
  • If the user does not want to use any existing connection and wants to establish a separate connection, then the user selects Continue with new connection option.
  • Once a user opted for a new connection, a new connection is generated in the system and displays the connected accounts in the account summary dialog.
  • Check the bank/credit card list to see new connections.
